Joshua possesses an education in Forestry from Cal Poly Humboldt, as well as a broad experience, ranging from forestry and fuels, to wildfire suppression, resource advising, and prescribed burning, across multiple ownerships. The bulk of his experience comes from his time with The Watershed Research and Training Center in partnership with the SHF USFS and SRF USFS implementing timber sale layout, forest inventory, fuels reduction projects, and reforestation efforts.
